WHY USE A PRESET SURFACE RIG FOR YOUR DRILLING PROGRAM?

The use of a spud/surface rig can enhance an E&P’s drilling program. This can add efficiency to a drilling program at less cost than bringing on an additional convention rig. The following provide some examples:

• If a drilling program calls for the use of OBM (Oil Base Mud). It can cost time and money for a conventional rig to clean out its mud system when mobilizing to a new drill site. We only use a water base mud system, thus allowing us to get the ground water formations isolated behind casing prior to the conventional rig arriving.

• Depending on the basin of operation, surface casing can take anywhere from 10 hours to a couple of days to complete. If companies have this preset, it could potentially allow them to drill more wells per year and keep the same drilling program already in place.
